  1. Okay, this is my favorite piece for this project, hands down. Great composition, colors, the lighting is cool, the transparency of the ghost is awesome, how the heck did you do this??? IT's so cool!!!

  2. This is really nice, Sarah, good work! It's a clever idea. Your dead man is working really well; the folds are great, and the hand's starting to work. The light diffusion is quite believable, too. I'm not sure about the composition. I don't know if you need more black on the right side of the door. Maybe you could just have the light from the door begin at the edge. Your ghost quite clearly reads. I wish his hands were as nice as the dead guy's. They feel a little too rounded in the fingertips.

  3. This piece feels very comfortable. the composition is good, it keeps my eye in the piece to have the ghost looking at his body. This is very interesting.

I feel peaceful when I look at it. hopefully that is the vibe you are going for. if not maybe make the purple backdrop to the stars a little colder... bluer. more blue than purple.

I love the ghost's bit of shine in the eyes. Your parents probably have a Young adult fiction bookcover illustrator! ha!

  4. This is so rad! I'm glad you went with this idea. The drapery on the dead man is on point. One thing that kind of bothered me were the ghost's hands. They seem a little small compared to the rest of his body, and aren't rendered as well as the dead man's.

  5. Great job! This is really beautiful! The colors are working very nicely. I agree with Samantha, the fingertips look a little too rounded.

  6. This piece is so....relaxing to me!! It has such a soft composition and feel! I really like this idea! The only thing that is slightly confusing to me is the cloth on his face. I know that its to help suggest he's dead, but it just seems weird that only a cloth was put on his face and not the whole figure. I don't know how much it really matters, it was a little strange to me. But good job! This is one of my favorite pieces!

  7. Good work, I like this. Having experienced several out of body situations (especially after eating a particularly succulent slice of steak) I think you hit the nail right on the flat part that is opposite of the pointy part.

  8. Sarah, I seriously love this! The figures are beautifully drawn and detailed, yet the composition is simple and easily read. Great job :)

  9. Love it! It reads really well, and is simple, but well rendered. Also, there's a ghost, which always gets my stamp of approval. Good job!

  10. Mad props for the angle of the dead body, a challenge and an unusual compositional choice. The left hand of the ghost gets a little lost in the light I might play with the transparency a little to make that pop.

  11. This is awesome. The only thing I could think of to improve this (maybe) is to increase the amount of black above the doorway. But it didn't bother me too much. Really great piece!

  12. Holy COW this rocks. This rocks so much. I think this is my favorite thing I have ever seen of yours. I just love the stars, the ghost figure, the lighted doorway...all of the colors and craftsmanship and composition... you really did an amazing job. I think it's just so lovely. The only advice I'd have is adding some small image to potentially imply a deeper story. Like why is the ghost hesitant? Or how did the man die? But it could go either way.

  13. I love this piece! The ghost is rendered so well! I love the colors too! I do think the men's pants and the folds could be designed a little more. I would love to see more stars! Great job!
