Jeff Harvey-(Tubeless) Project X

  1. This is really great Jeff! I really like all the subtle x's that you put throughout! The only thing I'd say (and this could be blogger) is that arm with the hook still seems to blend a little bit with the body of the man. I can tell you darkened it a little, but I feel like if you bumped it up just a tad more it would read better. Other than that I really enjoy this piece!

  2. I can tell you had a lot of fun loading the composition with crossing lines. I know you favor a more flat graphic style but I might try and dress up the chopped bit of beard with some contrast or even someaction lines to accentuate that part of the story. On a first read that got lost in the chaos of their brawl,

  3. This is delightful, Jeff! The only thing I'm noticing is the hooked arm doesn't quite feel right anatomically. I'm not sure how or where it connects to the viking's shoulder. Everything else is designed really well, especially the hands. Great job!

  4. This is funny! it looks like a tv show. anyway, i like the colors... I kinda wish the red guy's helmet was a little warmer so that it could be a warm guy vs. cool color guy. also, the hooked arm might look more anatomically correct if it was rounded at the back or not even that... if the back of the shoulder lined up with the back of his sillouhette more? ahhh! i'm not making sense!!! if you really want to know, ask me in person for clarification. ciao!

  5. I love the beard bit being chopped off! and the composition is holding my eye in the piece very comfortably.

I would prefer to see the cool Nordic X's from the background multiplied throughout the background a little more, mostly toward the bottom and top.

The black eye is great! and the costumes/design of the characters is so well done.

  6. I love this! The composition is all around great. The only thing I found is the gray and blue guy's left arm looks awkward. It's like he doesn't have an existing shoulder and his arm is connected to his neck. I don't know if you were trying to foreshorten it or something, but I would work on fixing that. One last thing is the yellow tip of the sword on the right is a little distracting. It's cut off of the edge and there's nothing else in the comp that uses that color so it de-harmonizes it a little. Other than that this is awesome!!

  7. This is really fun! I really like your characters. There is a lot going on, but I like the fact that there is so much to see. I agree with some of the other comments about the arm with the hook blending into the background. Also, the line work on the hands is a little hard to see.

  8. I recognize the writing in the background. I believe it is viking for 'california roll'. Great work.

  9. I love the paper cut style of this! Very humorous and kid friendly. (except maybe for the blood haha) The movement is engaging and the eye is lead around the piece well.

  10. Hecka cool- I like the dark background, and the playing with textures. Maybe add some more tubes, though...

  11. I like how you stole my art and used it. The composition is nice and shapey and it's done well. Jarom has a good point about the tubes though.

  12. Great movement. Awesome expression. Really cool hands/style too! Jeez. This really is great. You captured a whole fight in one moment and image. The hook guys right arm feels a little off for some reason. But that is mostly me trying to think of something helpful to say.

  13. I think it would be fun if one of the guys, maybe the one who got punched was sort of falling out of the composition. I think that would be fun, but not necessary. Great job!

  14. So fun! Love the pattern in the background. The hook gets a little bit confusing/lost for me.
