Super creep. I liked the snot stuff on the reindeer for some reason... I would say don't get so fuzzy with the background, especially where the snow meets the trees.
Seriously "Super Creep"! The idea's great. The color scheme's working pretty well, especially the greyish blues. I agree with Ariel about the background. Santa and the deer don't quite feel grounded and a part of the environment-- the deer's front hoof, especially. I'm not completely convinced with the muscle anatomy of Santa's arms. They start to look more sack-like than the sack. I might watch Santa's crotch, too. I would expect it to descend a little below the Fur-line. Another thought, the fiery list could use some work. You might want to set some more pieces of paper on fire to get a better feel for it. Your fire's beginning to feel a little like gelatin.
The Santa's character design is awesome, I love all the x's that come across in his costuming. The background is a little fuzzy, I know my backgrounds are hardly ever rendered and its because I ran out of time, but I've found tightening it up a little makes the figure really make sense. I can't get over how great the lighting is, the burning list and reflected light as very well done.
I love this piece!! It's such a twist on holidays - kind of reminds me of "The Nightmare Before Christmas." But I also love dark, creepy stuff. The glow in the gift sack and reindeer's eyes are super cool - oh and I love the slimy snot from the reindeer too. Some things: Santa and the reindeer feel like they're kind of floating - they don't look like they're standing in the snow. Also I would watch the anatomy on the deer. It feels kind of awkward and pieced together - especially the front foot. One last thing I noticed is the black outline on Santa's head and hat. I would probably get rid of it so it flows with the rest of your figure, and so his head doesn't look disconnected.
This is a great take on "X-Mas". I really like the moonlight filtering through the trees, and the glowing eyes. I also really like the backlit fur on the reindeer. I agree with Kelsey, the characters seem like they are floating above the snow.
This is the sweetest santa in all creation. I really like your santa and the green smoke coming out of his sack, but I do feel like the reindeer could be rendered a little better. I feel like I'm not really understanding the anatomy or whats exactly going on. Especially with Santa being so awesomely drawn anatomy-wise, I wish the reindeer matched it!
This is very interesting because all that is friendly and nice has become so repellant! I wonder what is in Santa's bag. I like how the reindeer's antlers mimic the branch pattern in the background.
Man, so good. Can I have this? The brush strokes on the reindeer are awesome, and the lighting is really great. Maybe add a few hard edges in the lighting on santa, though? Also, I don't know if the blue light on his face is super necessary or not. Either way, every complaint I could possibly have is negated by the x-man belt. Nailed it.
Very well rendered and super creepy, but the characters seem kind of slapped onto a rushed background. Try rendering out your snowbank a little more and giving them a space to inhabit
You have to love Santa, otherwise you're on the naughty list. And I do not want to be on this Santa's naughty list. The right bicep looks a little lumpy, but the rest is awesome.
I really like the muscles of Santa. He looks so sturdy and threatening. I DO feel he is about to destroy the world. That's pretty cool. I also like the lighting coming in from the right - really well done. And toxic light in the bag. Nice. I feel the reindeer could hold a stronger/more menacing presence.
The character is very sharp and the background is soft. I suggest making some subtle changes between those two. Very creative take on the assignment though.
So fun! You dealt wonderfully with the multiple light sources. Pats of the background feel a bit mushy to me, I wish it was as tight as the rest of it, but other than that looks great.
Super creep.
